Urban Decay Shattered Face Case Review

Well, I finally found it-the UD Shattered Face Case.  I found this a couple weeks ago at Ulta on sale for $29.  I'm guessing since the spring line is about to come out, they put all the 2013 holiday stuff on sale.  I couldn't be more happier that I was able to find this.  Now that I've had a few weeks to play around with this palette, I thought I would share with you guys my thoughts on it.  The cover of this palette is really cool and edgy, just like you would expect a UD palette to be.  It is in a two-tier form with the 5 eye shadows, the eye liner, access to the lip pencil and a decent sized mirror.  The second tier has the blushes and highlighter, access to the lip pencil and another decent sized mirror.

All 5 of these eye shadows, and of course the 2 blushes and highlighter(seeing as how the only blush and highlighter that UD sells is in the Flushed palette) are exclusives to this palette.  In this palette, you also receive a travel sized 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero and a full sized High Saturated Lip Color in Lovechild.  While this is a great travel palette, most of these colors I wouldn't use on a day to day basis.  You can get a pretty good slightly smokey day time look, but this palette is much better suited for those who prefer the darker, full on smokey eye look. I love that the face cases provide 2 blush choices, and I hope in the spring or summer line, UD will come out with actual blush choices that are UD worthy-soft and buttery.

Let's talk about these eye shadows.  Shakedown is a brown gunmetal satin.  Remix is a rich purple shimmer with micro-glitter. Nameless is a medium gray brown satin. Minor Sin is a champagne pink satin. Bleach is a yellow beige matte.  For most of these, I wouldn't wear on a daily basis.  I have gone out once or twice and have used this palette to make my look a little more edgy.

Overexposed is a dusty rose colored blush.  Temper is a soft baby pink. Glint is a soft pink champagne shimmer. These are great colors for me.  Just like in the Anarchy Face Case, the blushes are a bit powdery, but so pigmented it is unreal.  A little really goes a long way.  These blushes look really natural on my pale skin.  They are definitely some of my favorite blushes and highlighters in my collection.

This set also includes a travel sized 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero.  I could go without this one for sure, I have a bunch of double ended eye pencils in Zero.  Still a great black eye pencil, just would have preferred a different color.  It also includes a full sized High Saturated Lip Color in Lovechild.  This is a really pretty cool pink color that goes with quite a lot of different eye looks.  I am loving this color.

All in all, this is a pretty good set if you prefer darker colored eye looks.  Keep an eye out for tutorials for this palette!

Let's Get Naked Pt 4 Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette and Corresponding Eye Liner

Recently, Urban Decay launched a new Naked palette.  This palette is centered around rose toned colors that are quite gorgeous.  Included in this palette are 12 full sized eye shadows, 2 of which are matte, a double ended brush, and about a week's worth of samples of all 4 of their primer potions.  I have actually put the samples into contact lens cases, and it has made each sample last more than a week, but then again, I don't use much at a time(insert less is more speech here).  The case, just like Naked 2, is a tin type of case, in a rose gold hue, with Naked 3 and Urban Decay embossed in gold in it.  Unlike the Naked 2 palette, there are waves in the tin giving it a nice, kind of 3-D effect. The inside is exactly like the Naked 2 palette, large mirror covering the entire top lid of the case, the 12 eye shadows encased in plastic that has a cubby hole type thing for the brush.  I have recently discovered(for lack of trying) that the double ended eye liners fit into that cubby as well.  This is great for keeping the corresponding eye liners with their designated palettes.

Strange is a pale neutral pink that is almost white.  It is described as a matte satin and it couldn't be more right.  This is a great highlight color with all these shimmery shades. Dust is a light-medium pink with white and gold micro-glitter.  This shadow is true to it's name.  It is very dusty and has a lot of fallout due to the micro-glitter. This is not one of my favorite shades at all. Burnout is a medium rose peach with a pearl finish.  Unlike Dust, it is a soft, buttery shade with not a hint of fallout for me.  This is one of my favorite shades in this palette.

Limit is a matte medium pink with a touch of mauve.  This shade has good pigmentation, and is pretty smooth and only very slightly powdery. Buzz is a warm coppery rose with a frosty metallic sheen.  Great color payoff and no fallout that I have experienced. Trick is a medium pinky-copper with gold sparkles over a frosty finish.  This one, despite it being glittery, didn't have very much fallout.

Nooner is a matte medium-dark rosy plumish brown shade.  This is a great color, very soft and blendable and only slightly powdery, you can hardly even tell.  Liar is a medium brown with a slight pinky metallic frosted finish to it.  Factory is a medium-brown with reddish undertones with a shimmery pearl finish. This is a very soft blendable color. All of these are great crease colors or a good lid color for a nighttime look.

Mugshot is a medium-dark taupe with a frosted finish.  This has excellent color payoff.  Darkside is a purple taupe with a pearlized finish.  This is a great shade, soft and buttery and perfect for defining the crease. Blackheart is a deep black matteish color with gorgeous red sparkle to it.  I obviously did not include this in my matte shades as it is not completely matte.  This is my absolute all time favorite color in this palette, it is just so pretty.  There isn't much fallout in this shadow which was quite surprising.

All in all, this is a great palette.  It is not like the other palettes, where if you have one, you don't necessarily need the others as this is a pinkier, rose toned palette rather than a straight neutral palette.
The eye liner that matches this one is basically two eye shadow colors turned into eye liner.  Blackheart is just like it's matching eye shadow, a deep matte black with red glitter.  This doesn't come off very well in just one layer, but when you build it to two or three layers it turns out like the eye shadow.  Darkside, like it's corresponding eye shadow, is a purple taupe with a pearlized finish. This one, like Blackheart, needs to be put on with two or three layers to get a more opaque true to color shade.  Just like the other UD eye pencils, they stay on for quite awhile and are really soft and creamy.

Let's Get Naked Pt 3-Naked 2 Palette and Corresponding Eye Liner Review

When the original Naked palette made such a big hit, Urban Decay decided to make a second Naked palette.  This one is one of my favorite Naked palettes.  There are 12 warm toned shades, 3 of which are matte.  Included in this palette is a double ended eye shadow brush and a UD Lip Junkie in Naked. The palette is contained in a tin-like case with Naked 2 and Urban Decay embossed in bronze on it. On the inside, the eye shadows are contained in a plastic insert that has a little cubby for the brush.  There is a mirror that is as big as the case itself.
(Naked Lip Junkie)

Foxy is a yellow beige matte shade that is really good for a highlight color with these darker colors in the palette.  Half Baked is a copper-bronze with a gold frosted metallic finish. This shadow is also in the original Naked palette. Booty Call is a peachy white beige with a frosted finish.  This is a great shimmery highlight shade.

Chopper is a orangey-red toned brown with shimmery copper flecks. This shadow has major fallout so I would use a sticky base with this one. Tease is a mauve-brown matte finish color.  This is a good crease color but you have to work at it and its pretty powdery. Snakebite is a dark bronze with a golden shimmer-sheen.

Suspect is a champagne-bronze with a metallic frosty sheen. Great color payoff but just a touch chalky. Pistol is a dark gray-brown frost. The payoff was nice and it's texture is just like all the other UD shadows, soft and smooth.  Verve is a pale grey beige shimmer with a slightly pink tint.

YDK is a coppery-medium brown with red tones with a frosted finish.  Busted is a burgendy, deep brown with golden undertones that is slightly frosty. Blackout is a deep matte black that is easy to blend and very buttery.

Most of these shades are just like UD's shades, soft, buttery, and easy to apply and blend.  There are some hard to work with shades and some shades that have pretty decent fallout.  This palette is also pretty similar to the original Naked palette, so if you have one you don't necessarily need the other, but if you're like me then you want to have both. :-)

As you have seen in my other reviews, Urban Decay has recently launched corresponding eye liners to the Naked palettes.  The double ended eye liner that goes with the Naked 2 palette has Perversion and Pistol.  Perversion is the deepest, darkest black matte that UD makes.  It is so dark, smooth and creamy and stays on until you want it gone. Pistol is a gold taupe with warm tones and a metallic sheen.  These are truly great eyeliners and I just can't get enough of them.  I want every color!

Urban Decay Naked3 tutorial-soft romantic look

I am loving this look that I came up with for the Naked3 palette!  I have been doing this look a lot lately so I thought I would just share with you guys!

Just like most looks with this palette, you want to do your eyeshadow before you do the rest of your face.  Some of the ones I will be using have some fallout that you don't want to get on your foundation.  First, prime your eye.  Today I am using Benefit's Stay Don't Stray eye primer.  Then you take Nooner and using a blending brush, place this in the crease and blend it out nicely.

Using a flat shading brush, pick up Buzz place it all over the moving part of lid.  Really pack this on, and if you need to later on in the tutorial, place some more on your lid to keep it nice and bright.

Using the same flat shading brush, pick up Factory and place it on the last third of your lid and a little in your crease.  Blend this one out to where it looks smooth.  Next, with a small pencil brush, take a mix of Factory and Blackheart and place in the outer v. Blend, then repeat.  Repeat this until you have it as dark as you are wanting it.
Next, take Strange and a fluffy brush and place it on your brow bone and your inner corner to highlight your eyes.

Now, put on your foundation, bronzer, blush, highlight, brows, whatever you do complete your face.
Wipe off that small pencil brush, then take some more of Buzz and place on the lower lash line.
Then take the Blackheart side of Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil and place on your upper lash line and the bottom last third of your lower lash line.  Top off with mascara and your favorite lip color to go with this and you are done!
